Google Play Store to Allow External Payments From June 30 in Select Global Markets

Google will let developers offer alternative payment systems and direct users to their own websites for purchases alongside Google Play's billing platform starting June 30. The move gives developers more flexibility in how they handle payments while reducing dependence on Google's in-app billing system. Google is also separating its Play Store service fee from its billing fee. Under the new structure, developers in the US, UK and EEA will pay a service fee starting at 10 percent on their first $1 million in annual earnings. The same service fee applicable for auto-renewing subscriptions.
